Come April and Modi goes to MadameTussauds



Soon Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join Eminent world leaders at Madame Tussauds.

Madame Tussauds has announced it will showcase a waxwork of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April.

Modi’s wax statue with folded hands, wearing his signature kurta and jacket will be displayed in London, Singapore, Hongkong and Bangkok.

With this, guest would be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with Modi and take selfies.

The prime minister helped artists take his measurements at his home in Delhi.

Mr Modi is one of the most popular political leaders in the world. According to Madame Tussauds, Modi has a huge social media presence and he is a person of immense public interest.

He is the most followed twitterati after US President Barack Obama.

He is well known for taking selfies. Whichever country he visits, he ensures he takes selfie with respective leaders. His selfie after vote poll with party symbol even landed him in controversy last year.

In his statement, Modi said, "Madame Tussauds has crafted figures of very distinguished dignitaries from around the world - how could I regard myself worthy of being alongside them? But when I was informed that your decision had emanated from public opinion and public sentiment, I was comforted.

He further added, "I have visited Madame Tussauds three or four times and had the pleasure of getting myself photographed standing next to the figures of various dignitaries".

At Museaum, figures of political leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi can also be seen.

In 2000, Wax statues of Bollywood celebrities were also introduced after large number of requests from visitors.

Amitabh Bachchan was the first one to have his wax statue at Madame Tussauds London in 2000, followed by Aishwarya Rai (2004), Shah Rukh Khan (2007), Salman Khan (2008), Hrithik Roshan (2011), Madhuri Dixit-Nene (2012) and Katrina Kaif (from March 2015)
