This army soldier named Hanamanthappa was rescued late last night by rescue team. He was buried 25 feet under the snow following avalanche in the Siachen Glacier in temperatures close to minus 40 degrees.
40 feet of ice was cut at various locations by rescue teams after identification of probable locations of the accident.
According to reports four out of the five bodies recovered have been identified. Unfortunately four soldiers are no more. It is hoped that Hanmanthappa will recover soon.
Total of 10 soldiers were buried after their post was hit by avalanche at the altitude of 19,600 feet close to the Line of Control (LoC) where the temperature was minus 45 degrees Celsius.
